A unique aspect of the James River Day School schedule in grades 5-8 is the clubs & activities program. Students select two clubs or activities to participate in each trimester. Some of these groups meet on Thursdays and the rest meet on Fridays. Many of the offerings, such as the music activities, are available each trimester while others rotate. Some clubs and activities include: Orchestra, Band, Chorus, drumming, cooking, pottery, drawing, MathCounts, Robotics, nature trail maintenance, Chess Club, Greenhouse Gang, Student Government Association, various technology clubs, writing clubs, etc.
These clubs are taught by our full-time faculty as well as part-time specialists with expertise in music and/or art. These opportunities afford James River students a way to expand on the knowledge and experience they have gained in the typical academic courses.
