Gathering with Gratitude (November 13, 2025)

Goodness consists not in the outward things we do, but in the inward thing we are. — E.H. Chapin

I look forward to seeing many of you at our annual Thankful Hearts celebration next week. A special thank you to all of the PA members who are helping to bring this event to life, from coordinating our canned food drive that benefits the Lynchburg community to setting aside time for us to gather as a community. Breaking bread together is such a meaningful tradition that profoundly impacts our young students.

As I have shared before, Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. The brain science nerd in me loves having a holiday devoted to openly expressing gratitude. Scientific research indicates that having/expressing gratitude is vital to developing emotional resilience, fostering positive relationships, and supporting our overall happiness and well-being. Plus, I love gathering with friends and family over a lovingly crafted meal, celebrating our gratitude for each other, and taking time to rest (without the pressure of buying just the right gift!).

I also want to say thank you to every parent in our community for sharing your children with us. I love getting to know each of you and your children and extended families. Your trust, partnership, and openness help make James River a special place to work.

Let’s Fly!
