Friday Clubs & Fine Arts
A unique aspect of the James River Day School schedule in grades 5-8 is the clubs & activities program. Students select a club or activity to participate in on Fridays during each trimester. Some clubs and activities include: Orchestra, Band, Chorus, drumming, cooking, pottery, drawing, MathCounts, Robotics, nature trail maintenance, Greenhouse Gang, Student Government Association, various technology clubs, Sci-Fi club, etc. Please note, available activities change each trimester.
These clubs are taught by our full-time faculty, as well as part-time specialists with expertise in music and/or art. These opportunities afford James River students a way to expand on the knowledge and experience they have gained in the typical academic courses.
James River offers after-school enrichment opportunities. Contact Meghan Crowther, Assistant Head of School for Extracurricular Programs, by phone (434-384-7385) or email
