Laurie Harris

Mrs. Laurie Harris joined the school's administrative team in the fall of 2019. She started her career in commercial banking at First Virginia Bank in Northern Virginia, married while on vacation and moved back to Central Virginia. She spent over twenty years collecting responsibilities at AREVA/Framatome in treasury, insurance, risk management, aviation, and other duties as assigned ending as the Director of Treasury, Tax, and Insurance Services and Corporate Treasurer. She currently serves on two local non-profit boards, and she serves on the Board of Directors for Farmers Bank of Appomattox. At Farmers Bank, she is the current Board Vice-Chair and Chair of the Compensation Committee and a member of the Audit and Corporate Governance Committees.

Laurie received her B.A. from the College of William and Mary in Government. She later earned her M.B.A. from Lynchburg College (now University of Lynchburg) and returned there again to take additional accounting classes. She is a Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter, and is certified in Financial Management (C.F.M.) and Managerial Accounting (C.M.A.).

After leaving the corporate world, Mrs. Harris decided on a big change of concept and pace from an international corporate environment in the nuclear engineering industry to pursuing the opportunity at James River Day School. The hope is that this will allow for more timely reading of the Wall Street Journal (her favorite paper) and that second cup of coffee. We are very fortunate to have Laurie as our Business Manager, as she is highly skilled and very well thought of by her colleagues and former employers.
