SUMMER READING REQUIREMENTS FOR RISING 1st - 4th GRADERS
JRDS encourages reading throughout the summer. All students in 1st - 4th grades should record the titles of all the books they read over the summer on the Summer Reading Log (on page 3). So that teachers may get to know their students better, we ask that students turn in their reading logs to their new teacher in August.

Students are also required to reach a minimum number of AR (Accelerated Reader) points, according to their grade
●    Rising 1st graders should read, and be read to, every day!  (No AR points required.)
●    Rising 2nd graders = 4 points
●    Rising 3rd graders = 6 points
●    Rising 4th graders = 8 points

Students in grades 2-4 who meet the summer AR requirements will receive a homework pass to be used in the fall, with prior teacher approval. August 16 is the last day to take AR quizzes for the summer.
