Mrs. James is our Director of Marketing. She joined James River's administrative team in 2013 as Director of Development, and became our Director of Admissions in the summer of 2015. She had previously served as our Interim Director of Development in 2010. Her role here at JRDS shifted slightly in recent years to include additional administrative responsibilities.
Sally has a wealth of experience in development and event planning. Over the years, she has been the Director of Development for New Vistas School, Assistant to the Director of Development for the Academy of Fine Arts, and the Special Events Coordinator for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Sally grew up in Lynchburg and is a James River Day School alumna (class of 1989 - back when James River was a K-5 school). She went on to graduate from E.C. Glass High School. While in high school, she enjoyed performing with E.C. Glass Theatre and competing on the swim team. Sally went on to Hollins University, where she majored in communication studies, minored in studio art, and competed on the swim team.
An active volunteer, she has chaired the Lynchburg Walk to Cure Diabetes, was a member of the Friends of the Academy of Fine Arts, and has served on the board of the Lynchburg Humane Society. She is currently a volunteer board member for The Presbyterian Cemetery. Today, the most important thing in her life is her family. Sally also enjoys spending time with her dogs.
