Mrs. Sanzone joined the faculty of James River Day School in August 2016 to teach fourth grade. She remained in that position until August 2018 when she switched to teaching third grade. Prior to coming to James River, Sarah had seven years of elementary teaching experience in Appomattox County.
Growing up in Forest, she "absolutely loved school" and graduated from Jefferson Forest High School. She has her B.S. in Dietetics from James Madison University and her M.S. in Elementary Education from Longwood University. Sarah explained that she transitioned from nutrition to education because "I bumped into my favorite teacher during a visit home during college and observed her second grade classroom for fun. I caught the teaching bug, and immediately knew I wanted to be a teacher."
Sarah and her husband, Ross Sanzone (JRDS class of 1995), married in July 2015, and now reside in Lynchburg.
