Give to the Peter H. York Nature Trail

Mr. York’s retirement at the end of this school year is rapidly approaching! We plan to honor Pete’s 15 years of dedicated service and tireless efforts for James River Day School in a manner befitting his love and appreciation for the outdoors by renaming the school’s trail the Peter H. York Nature Trail.
Through the generosity of Maryanna & C.J. Stands, members of the Advancement Team, and many donors, we have surpassed our fundraising goal of $25,000 for this initiative.
You can still donate in Mr. York’s honor by contributing to this project through June 30, 2023. He has touched the lives of so many, and we believe that this trail is the perfect way to pay tribute to his legacy as a visible and lasting symbol of his impact on our school. It will serve as a valuable resource for our community for years to come.
F.A.Q.s
Why choose the nature trail for this naming opportunity in celebration of Pete?
The Peter H. York Nature Trail was decided upon as a naming opportunity because much of his adult life has been spent outdoors as a runner, bicyclist, and cross-country coach. At James River, we desire to encourage our students to utilize the trail for classes, relaxation, and exercise so they form their own lifelong love of nature as Pete has done.
