Getting Ready for Fall:

In the last month, our primary focus has shifted from the challenges of distance learning (though they still exist) to planning for the future, in particular the 2020-2021 school year. The planning is complex as the future remains so uncertain. It is our intention to begin the school year on campus. While specific decisions and plans will be finalized over the next several months as more information and updated public health guidelines are issued, strategies are being developed in the following areas including, but not limited to:
  • Sanitizing and cleaning processes
  • Health policies and procedures
  • Modification of events in compliance with limits on crowd sizes and social distancing measures
  • Institution of capacity limits to allow for social distancing in classrooms and community spaces
  • Class schedules and academic program
  • After school enrichment, aftercare, and athletics
While we are planning for a joyful return to campus, we also understand that the possibility exists of a mandate to transition back to distance learning at some point in the future. Accordingly, we are also focusing this summer on sharpening our distance learning program. We are committed to having the best learning program under any circumstance, continuing to cherish and challenge James River students, whether on campus or remote.

This is not planning for the future--it is planning for multiple futures. We understand the anxiety that comes from living through these uncertain times. One thing I am certain of is that James River will pivot and adapt regardless of what lies ahead. We will continue to deliver our mission and provide an exceptional education to give your children an advantage for the future. Thank you for your continued partnership and support.
