Learning Outside the Classroom

The mind, once stretched by a new idea, never returns to its original dimensions. –Ralph Waldo Emerson

I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend with their families. Our halls are bustling with energy again this week with the return of the sixth graders from their trip to Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing (WAEL). I am grateful to John Gillum for leading this trip each year. He was joined by Casey Eccles and Ashley Felder this year. Together, they helped our students navigate challenges and experience the great outdoors. It is a celebrated trip each year. Thank you, Coach Gillum, Mrs. Eccles, and Ms. Felder, for your time and commitment to our students.

This week, our fourth-grade class is visiting the Children’s Book Festival in Farmville, and Kindergarten is taking its annual trip to the Pumpkin Patch at Layman Family Farms. Thank you to our faculty and parents who help to make these trips memorable experiences for our students and allow for greater learning outside of the classroom. Events like this help to prepare our students for future participation and leadership in the greater community.

Let’s fly!
