A December to Remember

“...and, when the time comes to let it go, to let it go." -Mary Oliver, In Blackwater Woods

As 2023 draws to an end, I am reflecting on our accomplishments in these first months of the school year. I am proud of our students for their work ethic, perseverance, and integrity. James River students are amazing and bring joy to the community every day.

I am proud of our community for their overwhelming support of the school and its commitment to service and philanthropy. It still amazes me that in 5 business days, we gathered over 10,000 servings of nonperishable food to support those in the Lynchburg community who are struggling with food insecurity. I am also tremendously proud of and thankful for our faculty and staff. They go above and beyond every day. They work countless hours, perfecting each lesson plan, each social media post, and each encounter with a student.

As we approach the end of the first semester, the Cardinal Annual Fund has already surpassed 60% parent participation! Thank you for that. Please remember James River as you are making your end-of-year donations.

As we wrap up our final week of school in 2023, I wish everyone a lovely, quiet break. I hope your time with family and friends is restorative and that looking ahead to 2024 is promising and joyful. Thank you for being a part of this wonderful community and for allowing me to serve James River.
