I never cease to be amazed at the spirit of collegiality, partnership, and collaboration between the James River faculty and the parent body. I was particularly aware of this today as parent conferences just ended yesterday, and I once again observed this wonderful spirit all day in the classrooms and hallways. This school community, more than any I have ever seen, focuses on what is best for the child, praising the child’s achievements and brainstorming ways to work on individual challenges. It is very gratifying to see the system in process.

And speaking of a wonderful school community, don’t forget to attend the Yard Sale Saturday morning (8 a.m. to 12 p.m.) in Carrington Field House. Thanks to your generous donations, the gym is packed with an amazing variety of items. Come by to shop or to help out with the logistics of the event. Susannah Cox and Sarah Hellewell, co-chairs of Yard Sale, have done an amazing job of coordinating this year’s event. This event is the only fundraiser the Parents’ Association conducts each year. Proceeds from this event help the school in so many different ways and fund many treasured traditions.
