Business Manager
 
James River Day School seeks a full-time Business Manager. The Business Manager reports to the Director of Operations and directly manages the daily financial operations of the Business Office. She/he will be expected to have strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer service. 
 
A candidate should be a self-starter, problem solver, team player, and an effective communicator, who embodies the School’s core values. She/he must be detail-oriented while still having the ability to see the big picture.  
 
The ideal candidate will offer most, or all, of the following:
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
  • Previous experience in a non-profit organization, preferably in an independent school
  • QuickBooks expertise required
  • Experience with FACTS Tuition Management invoicing is a plus
  • Human resources experience preferable
  • Organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with community partners and vendors 
 
Duties and Responsibilities
The Business Manager will interact with teachers, families, and students throughout each day. The Business Manager is in charge of the day-to-day financial operations including payroll, accounts payable, and receivables. She/he coordinates many HR processes and procedures including employee on-boarding, background checks, enrollment in benefit plans, and paid leave.
 
The Business Manager maintains all student enrollment contracts and manages the collection of tuition and fees through FACTS Tuition Management. She/he  works closely with the Director of Building and Grounds, Director of the Children’s Center, the Associate Head for Advancement, and front office personnel to ensure the appropriate compliance and licensing for each area. The Business Manager works with each of these areas on reconciliation and financial reporting. She/he serves as a member of the Flexible Tuition Committee and manages the Flexible Tuition application and award process.
