We are working diligently to prepare the campus for students to return on August 26. We are taking numerous steps to get ready and to determine the policies and procedures necessary for safe and healthy in-person learning for the fall of 2020. Our comprehensive plan for re-opening our campus will continue to be informed by guidance from state and local health officials and the CDC.

Ways that we are preparing the campus for in-person teaching and learning:
  • Measuring all spaces and classrooms in the entire School in order to adhere to the CDC's recommended 36 sq. ft. allowance per person
  • Reconfiguring larger spaces to become additional classrooms
  • Collaborating with educational space designers to reconfigure learning space layouts and to purchase new classroom furnishings in the Lower School
  • Assigning maximum people limits to each space on campus and setting new traffic flow patterns for hallways, especially during Middle School classroom changes
  • Implementing new personal hygiene practices on campus and providing training for all students, faculty, and staff (examples include requiring hand-washing and desk/surface cleaning sessions throughout the school day, limiting the number of people in bathrooms, and increasing the cleaning frequency for high-traffic surfaces such as doorknobs, cubbies, lockers, etc.)
  • Modifying how and where students will eat lunch (most likely, all students will eat in their classrooms or outdoors for older students, weather permitting)
  • Minimizing the number of classroom transitions for students
  • Installing physical structures such as acrylic shields in main entrances and implementing stricter visitor restrictions
  • Isolation sick room to be used should a child or faculty member present unique symptoms during the school day
  • Hiring a nurse and a part-time counselor to support the physical and emotional well-being of all students
  • Increasing school-wide cleaning and disinfection protocols during the school day, as well as the deep cleaning in the evenings
