August 6, 2020

Work continues as we prepare the school to welcome students on August 26. We are grateful that our small class sizes, ample campus space, and ability to pivot and adapt protocols in response to changing guidelines gives James River a clear advantage as we prepare for reopening school. Please know that we base every decision on what is best for the students while prioritizing the health and safety of all students, faculty, staff, and families.

As responsible citizens, we encourage healthy habits. Especially for the two weeks prior to returning to campus, families, faculty, and staff are asked to diligently follow physical distancing, mask wearing, and hand cleaning protocols, and to make every attempt to avoid high risk situations. We ask you to acknowledge the duty of care we each have for our James River Day School community and the greater Lynchburg area. Our careful planning and collective respect for safety protocols is essential to our returning to campus, maintaining the health of our community, and keeping school open in-person, so long as it is safe to do so. We all have the same goal, to have safe, healthy, and happy in-person learning.

No matter how the pandemic unfolds, James River will continue to provide an exceptional education, supported by our dedicated and talented faculty and staff, as part of our caring community. Thank you for your continued partnership and support during these challenging times. We are excited to have the students back on campus!
