Caring. That’s our word of the week, and I can’t think of a better one for the week that our 2019-2020 Annual Report on Giving was mailed. Caring is defined as “displaying kindness and compassion for others.” Our community of families and friends has shown their care for our school in so many ways this past year. From distance learning to reopening, while embracing and leaning in to all of the many changes along the way, our supporters have been true partners with our school, faculty, and staff. We have received donations of handmade face masks, meals for faculty and staff, and even a tent to keep me cool and dry during afternoon carpool!
And, of course, we are extremely grateful for the support and care you have shown to James River through your generosity to the Cardinal Annual Fund. In the last fiscal year (ending June 30, 2020), our parent participation in our annual fund increased by 12%, from 60% to 72%. We also had a $12,000 increase in overall giving from the previous year. The fact that we had these increases, even during the tumultuous year we all experienced, speaks volumes about your care and commitment to the mission of our school.
You should receive your copy of our 2019-2020 Annual Report on Giving within a few days. Please reach out to Michelle Davis, Director of Development, if you have any questions.
We hope you know how much we appreciate all of you. Thank you for caring about our school.
