‘Twas the night before break and all through the school,
not a student was calm--eating candy for fuel.
The artwork was hung on the walls with care,
Lots of cheer and excitement filled the air.
The students were nestled all snug in their rooms,
thankful for in-person learning and no more Zooms!
Third graders and their play, music all through the schools,
students laughing and singing--still following the rules.
Tests and quizzes and Christmas ‘round the globe,
our students were active and enriching their lobes.
Thankful for warm days to the playground we take--
kids playing outside enjoying a mask break.
When what to our wondering eyes should appear,
but gingerbread houses and simple machines with gears.
Treats and parties, p.j.s or an ugly sweater--
a half day on Friday, does it get any better?
So as we draw nigh to the end of this special year,
please remember, to us, you all are so dear.
And what do we exclaim as the last car pulls out of sight?
“Happy Holidays to all, and may your New Year be bright!”
