Wrapping Up October & Welcoming November

Every time you smile at someone, it is an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing. -- Mother Teresa

I hope everyone survived the Halloween season without too much of a sugar crash. As you will see in my recap, October is a very busy month. November is less so, but we pack a lot in fewer days! Here are a few things to get you started for November.

Next Thursday, November 9, will be our fourth annual Day of Gratitude to kick off our Cardinal Annual Fund (CAF) campaign. This fund is a vital part of our operational budget to bridge the gap between the cost of being an independent school and what is covered by tuition. I am excited to announce that our teachers, staff, and trustees are leading the way! Both groups, the school employees and the trustees, are at 100% participation in the CAF already! Let’s use next Thursday to really get the CAF off to a flying start! Please give generously at whatever level makes sense for your family.

Also, in the spirit of giving thanks, I hope families will bring in non-perishable foods for the upcoming Thankful Hearts Canned Food Drive. You can drop off your food donations during the morning carpool, beginning Friday, November 10, through Thursday morning, November 16.

If last week’s Headlines had you thinking about where to begin with creating a family practice of gratitude, you might be interested in this short but powerful book: Making Grateful Kids: The Science of Character, by Jeffrey J. Froh and Giacomo Buno. Enjoy!

Let’s Fly!
