Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year!

Welcome to James River Day School and the start of the 2024-2025 school year. The faculty and staff have been working hard to prepare for the first day of school. We are excited to see our returning families on campus and enthusiastic about welcoming our new families.

Over the summer, our faculty read Jamil Zaki's The War for Kindness. In our opening faculty meeting, I challenged our faculty to think deeply about empathy and how we model empathy and teach young children/adolescents to develop empathy. We had thoughtful and lively discussions to start our year, and I feel strongly that this will be the best year yet at James River as we continue to honor our mission to cultivate strength of character! We are so glad you are here!

One quick reminder about pick-up and drop-off procedures: do not drop off or pick up students in locations other than the front entrance. After the first few days of school, the line moves much quicker as we settle into our routine. Safety must always be our priority.

Let’s Fly!
