Happy New Year and Other Things

“A child who thinks he can't do anything on his own eventually can't.” –Lenore Skenazy

Happy New Year!

I am a creature of routine, and I was grateful to return to campus this week. Seeing all of our students and faculty back in the building is wonderful after our slightly extended break.

I am glad that many of you were able to join us last Sunday for the presentation from Lenore Skenazy. It was a treat to hear Lenore speak, and I am grateful that we could have her visit our community in partnership with VES. Her parenting insights were ones I wish I had known when my girls were little.

Thank you to all of our families for your flexibility and quick response when we had to redirect the carline at lower school dismissal. We had a partial power outage on campus that affected only the Field House, and APCO arrived right at dismissal time to investigate the situation, blocking the back side of campus. The good news is that it was a blown transformer that supplies only the Carrington Fieldhouse. It was quickly repaired. Please make sure you have kept your cell phone number up-to-date in school records, as a text message to parent phones is one of our primary means of letting you know about weather closings during the day or other urgent messages.

Let’s Fly!
