February is an exciting time at James River. It has been great to welcome families to our campus during our admissions season. Kindergarten testing with preschool-aged children and shadowing visits for older students are ongoing. Also, as a part of this season, re-enrollment contracts for 2025-2026 will sent to returning families in the latter part of the month, so please keep an eye on your inbox.
This week, I shared with our middle school families a change in our technology policies for 2025-2026. We will not require middle school families to purchase a device for school use, and the school will provide devices when needed for a learning activity. We remain committed to teaching healthy technology usage and digital citizenship. This change does impact our lower school as well, as we work to be more intentional with our instructional technology as a whole school. Be on the lookout for more details of the impacts on parent/student/teacher communication and other procedures. HINT: most of it stays the same!
We are profoundly grateful to you, our current families, for investing in your child's education and then spreading the word to your friends and neighbors. You help drive interest in the James River experience when you share how your child is thriving and trying new things (like Robotics!).
Speaking of trying new things, please take a moment to take the PA Spring Volunteer Survey by Friday, February 14. Each of you enriches our community with your experience, talents, and ideas. Thank you for all you do!
