Optimism—a Key to Success

“Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.” –Helen Keller

This month's character word is Optimism, the perfect word for March. As we move out of the dark days of winter to more daylight hours and warmer weather on the horizon (yes, please), we aim for consistent school routines and continuing success in our programs.

We kicked off this season of optimism with Grandparents and Friends Day on Friday, March 7! This event was, as always, a joyful day spent with important and influential friends in our community while our students showcased their hard work.

Faith in themselves, optimism, and diligence are paying off for our student musicians. I am excited that our middle school orchestra participated in its first district assessment this week. They earned straight SUPERIORS across all assessments. This is the highest rating, and achieving such high marks your first time attending districts is extremely unusual. I am beyond proud of the work our students and Mrs. Berkley have accomplished this year. Our middle school band members participate in their district assessments next week, and we are hopeful for a similar outcome.

Our middle school robotics team had a rescheduled competition this past weekend on March 1. This was the second competition for our newly formed team. They had a fantastic showing, even debuting an autonomous code for their robot as one of only three teams with a successful code. We learned this week that one of our two competition groups has been invited to participate in the state contest in D.C. on March 22 (over Spring Break). We wish them luck in their next competition!
