Enjoying the K-8 Art Show at Riverviews

“There is no enjoying the possession of anything valuable unless one has someone to share it with.” –Seneca

As we steadily march towards May and all it brings, it is easy to get wrapped up in schedules, planning, and logistics, especially in my role. That is why it is even more important to slow down for a moment and recognize all that we do as a community.

The Art Show opening reception at Riverviews Artspace last Thursday evening was a spectacular event showcasing every student's artwork, kindergarten through 8th grade. Our student musicians performed music that added to the ambiance. It was a joyful evening, and I am constantly in awe of our students' creativity and craftsmanship. Thank you to our visual arts teachers, Dr. Hellewell, Mrs. Koscielny, and Ms. Felder, for their efforts in selecting pieces and preparing the exhibit at RVAS. That is no small undertaking. Thank you to Mrs. Berkley for assisting our musicians as they performed for the evening, and a big shout out to JRDS parent, Tracey Langseth, who serves as the Executive Director of Riverviews Artspace. We were fortunate to show our exhibit in the main gallery this year. If you missed the open reception, there is still time to visit. Our show will be on display until April 17.

While our art teachers were preparing the show, our parent community was busy transforming the Carrington Fieldhouse into a community space to welcome visitors to the Parents Association's largest fundraiser, the yard sale. The list of people who volunteered to make this event possible is extensive, but please accept this expression of gratitude for all you do for James River and the Parents Association. We are so lucky to have partners like you in our community.

Thank you to everyone who makes this such a fantastic place to work and learn.
