“By being yourself, you put something wonderful in the world that was not there before.” –Edwin Elliot
Last week’s Field Day was a great success. We are so grateful to Rob Woods, John Gillum, and our parent volunteers who make that day so much fun for our community. This is only the second year that Field Day has been a whole school event, and it was such a joy to watch all of our students get the opportunity to be kids.
Tomorrow, we are also excited to partner with Wild Ones (formerly Blue Ridge Conservation) to begin planting a native garden at the front of campus. These gardens are not only intended to beautify our campus but also to support pollinators in our area. Once established, native gardens do not require intensive weeding or maintenance, which is also a bonus. This first garden will be at the front of campus, around the flagpole, and we hope to continue our partnership with Wild Ones to install more gardens in the future. Thank you to Mr. Oliver and Coach Gillum for their help with planning this project.
