Important Updates (September 17, 2026)

“The more kids hear the same character message and are surrounded by people who model integrity, the more likely they will become people of Character.”

–Michele Borba, Thrivers

It was so great to see so many families at the Fall Family Picnic despite the rain at the start of the event. Thank you again to the Parents Association for organizing this event and to all the volunteers who supported it.

As a reminder, Conference Day is next week, September 23. This is not a school day. We will have care for students who are enrolled at James River during their parents’ conference time(s) in the Taylor Media Center throughout the day. Our hope is that this is valuable time for you to connect with your child’s teacher/advisor and be prepared for the upcoming year. As I shared last week, teachers will spend most of their time listening to your thoughts for the year, and they will share with you what you can expect from them and their classes this year.

Lastly, we will test our emergency notification system next week. Parents will receive a text message with a test notification. If you do not receive a text message, please email [email protected]. This text notification system is important because this is how you will receive notices for inclement weather (SNOW DAYS!) or other campus-wide emergency information.

There are many important updates in this week’s newsletter. Please take the time to read through it!
