Every year as we plan for this day, we hope for good weather, and then -- it rains. But, not this year! We were surprised, however, by a sudden, down-pouring flurry of snow! The snow quickly abated, and everyone was able to enjoy a wonderful day.
To begin this special morning, the students sang songs, played violin, performed in choir, orchestra, and band, and entertained their special guests. Following this, a special video presentation about Head of School Mary Riser was shown.
One grandparent was heard to comment, "I did not think that I would come to Grandparents' Day and get inspired."
Another answered, "It was very moving."
Following this, students and their special guests went to class together. Assignments and artwork in the classrooms, plus a special exhibit of student art in the Taylor Media Center, were enjoyed, and our guests had a taste of what a day at JRDS encompasses for our students.
The day was fun for all, and we look forward for next year's Grandparents' Day. It truly is a highlight of the year.
