Unity Umbrella

On Wednesday, May 31, students at James River Day School participated in a Cardinal Buddy activity, the Unity Umbrella Event. The objective was to promote unity by showing how everyone is unique yet connected to others. Students worked with their Cardinal Buddies in small groups to identify areas that pertained to them. For example, students chose "identifiers" such as "I was born in Lynchburg,"  "I practice a religion," or "I have lost someone special to me." While paired with their Cardinal Buddies, students wove yarn through poles that represented their different identifiers. Older Cardinal Buddies guided the younger ones through the process. The end result, was a beautifully woven Unity Circle, honoring similarities and differences in our community.
