Lunch with Leaders - #uniquebutunited
Since January, the 8th grade Lunch with Leaders cadre has been discussing issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The discussions have been extraordinary, both intellectually and emotionally. During explorations around many recent stories relating to interpersonal relations, the group conceived an idea that launches tomorrow--Unique but United. The effort is a one-day event to celebrate our connections, differences, and uniqueness.
According to one student leader, "Our goal is to support something that is bigger than ourselves, and to show that we are all the same, despite our differences."
What is happening? The student organizers ask that middle school students who wish to participate wear black to show their support for equity (tomorrow, February 16). Inspired by recent social movements, our goal is to do something that brings everyone together. This is a middle-school-wide event and is strictly voluntary. If you have no black, wear dark colors to participate in this movement. A limited number of #uniquebutunited buttons will be available Friday, too!
