Most people can point to an older relative or family friend who had a profound influence on the kind of person they became. Last Friday, we celebrated that special bond between grandparents (or grand-friends) and children. The children presented a program of music for the grandparents' enjoyment, which included performances by our band, orchestra, middle school choir, 3rd/4th grade chorus, 3rd grade violinists, 4th grade violinists, and K-2 grade-level songs.
Following the program, grandparents joined the children in the classrooms to see what they've been studying recently. Many grandchildren interviewed their grandparents to learn more about their lives and perspectives. In other classroom, grandparents and grandchildren teamed up to follow a scavenger hunt, solving math equations along the way.
And, there was art everywhere! Beautiful, fabulous art that the students had created.
With 230+ people in attendance, it was a simply wonderful day!
