James River Day School is dedicated to developing scholars, leaders, and citizens for the 21st century. With this enduring mission as our guide, in the Spring of 2018, the Administration and the Board of Trustees embarked on developing our next Strategic Plan. This plan will frame our vision and provide specific steps to support our best practices and achieve the aspirational objectives that will guide James River Day School into the future.

- Ensure a robust and sustainable financial future for the school.
- Maintain the operational and programmatic excellence that enables James River Day School to provide challenging, dynamic, and character-based learning experiences.
Throughout the spring, we will be sharing key elements of the strategic plan so our community can see the direction our school is heading as the future unfolds. To set the stage, we are first adding FAQs about strategic planning to our website. While many may be familiar with strategic planning, this type of long-term planning may be new to others. Our FAQs are written to help educate our community about why strategic plans are essential for schools, why we are undertaking this important work now, and to share James River’s strategic planning process.
As with any FAQs, we will update them as new questions come our way. Our goal is simple -- we want everyone in the community to know the principles that will guide James River as it heads into the 21st century. In support of that effort, your questions can help us to continue to educate our community. We look forward to an ongoing dialog and to sharing key elements of our plan in the weeks to come.
