Mrs. Amber Freeman was appointed as James River's first ever school counselor in August 2020. She is a Lynchburg area native, who graduated from Rustburg High School. Thereafter, she went on to the University of Virginia, earning her Bachelor of Arts degree in cognitive science and psychology. After college, she worked at Sandusky Elementary as a school-based mental health counselor, while pursuing her M.Ed. in school counseling and an M.B.A. (both from the University of Lynchburg). Upon receiving her masters degrees, she became a school counselor and worked at multiple schools around the country. Returning to the Lynchburg area, Amber brings with her years of experience as a counselor.
Amber and her husband, Brian, have three children and live in Forest. As it is for so many of us, spending time with her family is her favorite activity. As family, they enjoy getting outdoors hiking, biking, and enjoying each other's company.
