Elizabeth Owen

Mrs. Elizabeth Owen joined our faculty in August 2020 as a first grade teacher.

Elizabeth was born and raised in Williamsburg, Virginia. She later went to Mary Baldwin College, in Staunton, Virginia, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology in 2008 and then earned her Masters of Arts in Teaching degree in 2011. Elizabeth has over a decade of experience teaching in elementary school. Prior to coming to James River, she taught first grade, second grade, and a year in a combination class of first and second grade.

Elizabeth and her husband, Jay, met during college and were married in 2012. They moved to Bedford in 2015 from Richmond. Jay is from Bedford and always wanted to move back home; Elizabeth is thankful for this because they now live in the most beautiful place to raise their family. Elizabeth and Jay have two amazing children, Campbell (a James River student) and Cannon.

In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys spending time outside hiking or floating on the James River, reading books, drinking coffee with a great book on her back porch, and baking. She also loves traveling and discovering new places.

Elizabeth is excited to be both a teacher and a parent at James River!
