Ashley Felder
Ashley Felder joined James River Day School in 2023 to teach middle school art. Art making has been part of her existence since she was a small child, and she revels in opportunities to share her passion for creating with students. Growing up on her family’s farm in the low country of South Carolina also made her a lover of the natural world. Ashley also teaches photography at the University of Lynchburg.
Ashley attended the South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, where she graduated with a concentration in Sculpture in 2011. She received her BFA in Sculpture and Metals from Winthrop University in 2015 and her MFA in Sculpture from Clemson University in 2021. She has taught at Royal Live Oaks Academy of the Arts and Sciences, South Carolina Governor’s School of the Arts and Humanities, Lander University, Clemson University, University of Lynchburg, and the Academy Center of the Arts. She has also worked at an artist residency, a children’s museum, and as a yoga teacher.
