Mrs. Gessi Wright joined the faculty at James River in 2015. She teaches middle school math and is the middle school faculty team leader.
Gessi is a Lynchburg native with numerous ties to the surrounding area. She attended Lynchburg City Schools and then graduated from Holy Cross Regional Catholic School. She earned a B.A. in art from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in 2007. Mrs. Wright spent the next eight years teaching middle school math for Lynchburg City Schools. She completed a Masters of Education in PK-12 Administration and Supervision Education Leadership (MEd) at the University of Lynchburg in 2021.
Gessi lives in Forest with her husband, Kevin; their two daughters, Caroline and Whitney; and her brother, Stratton. (Fun fact: Stratton is a JRDS alumni and currently attending VMI!) In the fall, you can find the Wrights in Chapel Hill cheering on the Tarheels at the UNC football games. Most other weekends, they can be found camping with their friends and family.
