Mrs. Haylie G. Ogden was appointed as a middle school English teacher in August 2019.
Haylie born and raised in Lynchburg and is a graduate of Brookville High School. She began her college education at Radford University studying education and human development for two years before returning home and graduating with a BS in Education from Liberty University with concentrations in English and the social sciences with an endorsement in middle school English.
After graduation, she began working in Campbell County Schools where she taught kindergarten at Tomahawk Elementary. She later moved within the system to Leesville Road Elementary where she taught for eight years: five years in third grade and three years in fifth grade. In 2013, Haylie was fortunate to marry her best friend Garrett. The Ogdens welcomed their first son in 2015 and their second in April 2019. They reside in Evington.
In her free time, Mrs. Ogden is an avid reader, coffee drinker, and enjoys staying active alongside her family. She says of her favorite things, "I love all things 'fall,' belly laughing with friends, binge-watching a good show, and eating all the Mexican food I can." Haylie further notes, "I am thrilled to be joining the JRDS school community and am looking forward to a wonderful year with my new students."
