I've been at James River since kindergarten, and I think it's the best school in Lynchburg. All of my teachers know me and encourage me to do my best. I really like all of the traditions that the school has like Thankful Hearts and Hanging of the Greens. As I move into high school, I know that James River prepared me for that challenge. - a student

My children loved James River Day School and learned so much about how to study, how to organize their work, and how to manage their time. The school is not equipped to serve students with significant learning challenges, but for students like mine who needed a bit of help and never would have received services in a public school setting, it is perfect. James River's faculty and staff also do so much to model and teach good character and behavior. Children leaving a classroom will spontaneously thank their teacher for the day's class. I've never seen that anywhere else. When a child slips up, teachers handle it in a way that supports the child's growth as a person and avoids humiliating that student. The school has a very happy, family atmosphere where children can be children for as long as possible. That's the advantage of a K-8 school. - a parent
