Miranda Mitchell
Miranda Mitchell joined the faculty of James River Day School as and middle school English teacher in August 2023. Miranda is a Central Virginia native that comes to us from Rustburg High School, where she served as a special education teacher and cheerleading and track coach. Described as an innovative and passionate teacher, she has taught English from 8th grade to high school. She earned her B.S. in interdisciplinary studies from Lynchburg College and is currently pursuing her Master of Special Education from the University of Phoenix. When she is not teaching, she loves being outside with her dog. She enjoys going on hikes, camping, rock climbing, and running; she even ran her first marathon last year.
Miranda said this about joining James River, “I have a passion for teaching, education, and community service. I have always loved learning and being able to help others grow by finding what ignites learning for them. I am very excited to take my experience from public school to James River Day School and continue sharing my passion for learning. The culture and atmosphere at JRDS -- it is rare! I am so excited and honored to be a part of this wonderful school and community.”
