Morgan Robertson

Morgan Robertson joined the faculty of James River Day School in August 2024, where she teaches general music in the Lower School and leads the Middle School Choir. Before JRDS, she taught elementary music and gifted education for ten years in Nelson County. She has also taught beginning piano and voice lessons to students ranging from pre-kindergarten to twelfth grade. She loves listening to others' stories and hopes that the space she creates as an educator, both physically and mentally, is authentically welcoming and makes her students feel comfortable to be themselves.

Morgan graduated from Christopher Newport University with bachelor's and master's degrees in teaching and Choral Music Education. She received her Kodály certification from Midwestern State University and her gifted education endorsement from the University of Virginia. She is currently pursuing her Master of Education degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Lynchburg where she will graduate in May 2025.

Morgan lives in Amherst with her feisty tabby cats, Lincoln & Woodrow, and her excited-about-life golden retriever, Ellie. When she's not teaching or "student-ing," she loves eating good food with dear friends and family, traveling to new places, listening to and creating live music, moving her body outside, and hesitatingly signing up for ultramarathons. In Morgan's words, she is "jazzed to be a part of the James River Day School community."
