James River is a joyful independent school community serving kindergarten through eighth-grade students in the greater Lynchburg area. We believe the K-8 model is an ideal learning environment designed to meet the developmental needs of children through early adolescence. We do not want to accelerate the precious childhood years unnecessarily; instead, we want to prepare students personally, academically, and socially for the dynamics and challenges of high school.
