Betsy Rhodes

Mrs. Betsy Rhodes joined the faculty of James River in 2010 as a fourth-grade teacher. Beginning in 2014, Mrs. Rhodes taught kindergarten for seven years.

 

Beginning in the fall of 2021, one may find her surrounded by books and creative technology in the Taylor Media Center. Mrs. Rhodes is passionate about providing students with an inspiring and nurturing space to develop their reading and STEAM skills.

 

Betsy grew up in Amherst County and attended Virginia Episcopal School. She earned her B.A. in English and elementary education from Salem College in Winston-Salem, NC.  After college, Betsy married and moved to Charleston, SC. There, she taught her first class of preschool students and had her first child. In 2004, the Rhodes returned to Lynchburg, because they agreed it was the perfect place to raise their family of two daughters. She is fortunate to spend time with her extended family and friends. Betsy enjoys reading, gardening and walking with her silly dog “Wren.” 

 

James River has given her the gift of the most supportive and welcoming community where she and her family continue to grow, thrive, and learn!
